5 Ways to Boost Your Skincare Routine

5 Ways to Boost Your Skincare Routine

Everyone wants glowing, flawless skin. But for most of us who aren't blessed with naturally perfect genes, it's hard to get there, especially when you have skin conditions like acne to battle along the way. All hope is not lost, though. Just about anyone can have great skin, and the best part? It doesn't always require excessive amounts of time, or expensive professional skin treatments.

Some skin care tips take less effort than you may think to give you visible results over time, like decreased redness, increased glow, and acne control.

While they may be a longer-term commitment, these simple lifestyle tweaks are guaranteed to reap significant results.

Hydrate immediately after cleansing

Experts agree that one of the biggest skincare mistakes you can make is waiting too long after washing to apply a hydrator. Whether it's your face or body, you have just a short window after cleansing to put on a hydrating product before moisture starts to evaporate. If you let your skin dry completely, the water on your skin plus any moisture in your skin will start to get pulled into the air.

Take it one step further, and consider switching to an oil cleanser, which is not only not going to strip away the moisture from your skin, but it is actually going to help repair a damaged skin barrier.

Try our Nourishing Trio for Dry and Sensitive Skin, which features a hydrating oil cleanser and a nourishing facial oil to hydrate for the second step.

Add a Vitamin C to your morning routine

Vitamin C is scientifically proven to have multiple benefits for your skin, no matter what your skin issues may be. It is ultra-hydrating, promotes collagen production, has brightening properties, helps to protect against sun damage, and reduces overall redness.

Implement this ingredient into your skincare routine as a serum, preferably as a natural component, as natural Vitamin C can be just as potent and effective as the articial kind.

Our Vitamin C ingredient, found in all our Dream Serums as part of our Trios, is derived from the Kakadu Plums, which have the highest recorded natural amount of vitamin C of any food in the world.

Facial massage

Regular massaging, either with fingertips or a massage tool, helps to drain puffiness and toxins. Massaging your skin, even for just a few seconds, brings about more blood cells to the skin, more oxygen, and better absorption of products. Plus, it works to de-puff those inevitable tired, morning eyes with lymphatic drainage.

For dry skin, massage in circular motions upward. Start at the base of the neck where your arteries are. Massage in gentle circles upwards, toward the jaw, up the sides of the face, and around the eyes. This will help coax nutrients into the tissue.

You want to do the opposite motion and start on the top of the face by the eyes if you are prone to breakouts—this will draw the waste away.

We love to massage with a Cleansing Oil, like MINT or NEXT LEVEL.

Exfoliate regularly - but not too much

Like dust on a polished surface, old, dead skin cells can make even the dewiest skin look dull and decidedly un-lustrous. Exfoliating is the quickest and easiest way to brighten your skin. Just be sure to limit your exfoliation to a maximum of five times per week, even if you feel like your skin can handle it.

Exfoliation also helps your skincare products absorb into the skin better, which means an extra boost of nutrients, hydration and glow.

A retinol alternative

The gold standard in skincare is vitamin A, one of the very few ingredients that has actually been scientifically proven to work on premature ageing of the skin as well as breakouts. Retinol, a form of vitamin A, stimulates the production of new skin cells, which helps to reduce fine lines, firm the skin and help battle blemishes. Most skincare brands have a retinol serum in their range now and I would highly recommend incorporating one into your routine.

However, many people can have an adverse reaction to retinol, mainly, redness, flaking, irritation, and inflammation, especially in sensitive skin types.

This is why we recommend considering using a bakuchiol serum, a natural ingredient that has been scientifically proven to provide all the same benefits as a retinol, but without the pesky side effects. How? Bakuchiol is not derived from Vitamin A, so while studies have shown that bakuchiol helps prevent fine lines and wrinkles, and helps with pigmentation, elasticity, and firmness, it does this by working through the same receptors that retinol uses.

We love our 1% Bakuchiol Booster. (Did you know 1% bakuchiol is the highest concentration you can have in skincare?)

Bounce contains only 4 ingredients: Cold pressed Babchi seeds (Bakuchiol), Pure Kakadu Plum Oil, Organic cold-pressed Sunflower Oil and Organic Fragonia Essential Oil (Agonia fragrans).

If you know anything about us, we like to keep things pure, simple and powerful around here!

Our purest, most potent oil to date, it only takes a single drop of this blend to release its full power.
